Memorial Real Estate Information
Memorial is a community in western Houston that is known for being a relatively wealthy neighborhood bounded to the south by Buffalo Bayou, to the east by the I-610 interstate, to the west by Texas State Route 6, and to the north by the I-10 interstate. Several villages are collectively combined to create the area, namely Bunker Hill Village, Hedwig Village, Spring Valley Village, Hillshire Village, Piney Point Village, and Hunters Creek Village.
The Memorial City Mall is a popular shopping complex in the area and serves the spectrum of villages in the area. The newer and more upscale Town & Country Village lifestyle center, however, has increasingly become the destination of choice for residents looking for a day of shopping and gathering. A new development, CityCentre, is underway, and when completed will be the new hotspot for Memorial’s residents to gather, shop, bank, and run other errands.
Area properties receive deliveries from a number of different media outlets. The Houston Chronicle, the city’s primary newspaper, is the most read in Memorial. The local Memorial Examiner is also distributed locally. The Memorial Buzz, a monthly magazine mailed free of charge, is also a popular media outlet. Memorial’s recreational areas are also quite plentiful. George Bush Park is perhaps the largest nearby facility and includes a number of hiking trails and camp sites. Lakeside Country Club, Royal Oaks Country Club, and Terrey Hershey Park are among a number of other places for residents to get outdoors.
The Memorial area real estate is divided into zones in order to determine which school district will serve the area’s youth. Most students are served by the Spring Branch Independent School District while some students in the western end attend schools in the Katy Independent School District. Local elementary schools include Meadow Wood, Nottingham, Rummel Creek, Thornwood, and Wilchester. Bunker Hill Elementary School and Frostwood Elementary School are considered to be separate attendance zones. Major middle schools in Memorial include Memorial Middle School and Spring Forest Middle School. High School students are assigned to either Memorial High School or Stratford High School. The Westchester Academy for International Studies is a charter magnet school that serves all students on an application basis only.
